How Lifestyle has Changed in The Digital Era
We live in a world where nowadays, everything is digital. All is converged in one such as handphones that doubles up as a camera, a tv, and a lot more things. I for one am not a digital pioneer, ever since I was small, although not as advanced as today, technology was still very much a thing. I use to play educational games on the computer as a very young child but I also still got to enjoy a good old handheld book. Nowadays, although there are still handheld copies of books, ebooks have been all the rage, ranging from all sorts of genres for all sorts of readers. This innovation has saved so much space and money, no need for lots of bookshelves and storage for your books (although I still prefer mine in print), it’s easier to access and bring anywhere. This is what is considered disruption that has turned to innovation.
So, from what I understand, disruption leads to innovation, such as the print to ebooks. It’s a change, and although sometimes hard to follow up and keep up with, it will always go on. Disruption is necessary for growth, especially for business. Innovation is happening in the present and most certainly will happen in the future. There is certainly a lifestyle change from old media to the now digital age that mostly everyone experiences.
One lifestyle change I feel most of us experience is caused by Gojek. Since the invention of gojek (which I am a HUGE fan and user of) I have spent a lot more money, mostly because when i'm craving for something or a certain food, I can easily gojek it, it’s so low effort. But I also can’t count the times where gojek has helped me like sending me the homework I’ve left at home, to sending someone a lebaran parcel to getting me where I need to be. Of course, there are things that have changed that I consider quite sad, like how a lot more kids in a very young age prefer apps and games on digital devices over Barbie dolls and Polly Pockets I use to play with, I was so sad to hear the news that Toys R Us was closing down. It felt like it was the end of how I use to experience my childhood. With this new age, the lifestyle change is huge, life is made easier by technology and new inventions and innovations. Things are replaced and converged. Although sometimes, it may be hard to adapt and sad to leave, it is inevitable.
